The Role:

The Service Manager will play a crucial role in the Exeter team, managing Supported Housing and Trainer Tenancies projects. These initiatives are committed to providing support to individuals with a history of homelessness in the Exeter area. The foremost objective is to deliver high-quality, person-centred support, with a focus on ensuring the safety and well-being of each person.

In this role, you will oversee multiple units of accommodation along with a dedicated team of support workers. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the service, ensuring that the support provided to residents and staff meet high-quality standards. Your day-to-day activities will vary significantly, from directly supporting clients and guiding staff in their roles to ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of the service. Additionally, you will regularly engage in discussions with external stakeholders and commissioners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide planning, leadership and direction, meeting statutory and organisational quality standards
  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of any relevant buildings, including maintenance and safety issues, ensuring that regular inspections (internal and external) are made and monitored
  • Ensure that the appropriate levels and quality of staff and other resources are available to meet the agreed service standards, and that a robust staffing rota always exists - the post holder will be expected to provide additional cover if necessary
  • Develop and manage monitoring systems which demonstrate the usage and achievements of the service for your team, the organisation and external audiences
  • Carry out, within reason, any other duties necessary to achieve the smooth running of the service and undertake other organisational duties, which are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle - business insurance will be required for roles involving travel to work.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of rough sleeping, multiple complex social need and the causes of homelessness.
  • Proven management experience in a similar setting
  • Ability to represent the organisation professionally to a wide range of people including service users, families, neighbours, professionals and commissioners
