Our client is a leading international sports rights holder, managing and promoting some of the world's most prestigious sporting events and brands. They are seeking an experienced and dynamic Partnerships Director (ideally with previous experience of working with international Governmental / tourist organisations) to lead and expand their relationships with national and international governments. This strategic role is critical to aligning business objectives with governmental policies and opportunities, ensuring the sustainable growth and development of our client’s sports rights portfolio. Key Responsibilities include:


  • Develop and Implement Strategy: Create and execute a comprehensive governmental partnership strategy aligned with our client’s international events objectives.
  • Build Relationships: Establish and maintain high-level relationships with key governmental stakeholders, including ministers, regional governmental leaders, and senior civil servants across multiple countries.
  • Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies that support the growth and protection of sports rights, including intellectual property, broadcasting regulations, and international sports diplomacy.
  • Partnership Development: Identify and negotiate strategic partnerships with government bodies, international organisations, and NGOs to promote sports events and initiatives.
  • Contractual Compliance: Ensure all activities are in full compliance with relevant contractual agreements, regulations, and governmental target outcomes, particularly in areas related to economic impact, tourism, sports broadcasting and rights management.
  • International Representation: Represent the organisation at governmental meetings, conferences, and events, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including legal, commercial, and marketing to ensure alignment on governmental initiatives and partnerships.


We are ideally looking for you to have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in partnerships and ideally sports partnerships including having experience of managing governmental relations, public affairs, or a related field, with a focus on international partnerships. You will also have the ability to develop and execute strategic plans that drive business growth through governmental partnerships and have strong negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders. An understanding of the global sports industry would be desirable coupled with experience working with governments across multiple countries, with a solid understanding of international diplomacy and cultural sensitivities. This role requires frequent international travel to meet with governmental partners and attend international sporting events.
