Senior HR Shared Services Manager
Location: South Midlands (Hybrid 3 days in the office 2 days from home)
Salary: £65-78,000 + car allowance + bonus + career opportunities
The Senior HR Shared Services Manager will build, shape, lead and oversee the HR Shared Services operations across the UK.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless delivery of Payroll & Benefits Administration, Employee Services, Employee lifecycle administration, Data Management, Reporting, HRIS, Policies, & process and Talent Acquisition process. The focus is to drive operational excellence by adhering to standards and SLAs, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and transformation.
This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, capable of managing a diverse team and collaborating with HR and business leaders to align HR services with organisational goals. The Senior HR Shared Services Manager will play a critical role in enhancing employee experience, optimising HR processes, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
The role:
Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the HR Shared Services team, ensuring high-quality service delivery and excellent customer service.
HR Operations: Oversee HR operations including Payroll & Benefits Administration, Employee Services and lifecycle administration, HRIS delivery, Data Management, Reporting, and policies & process.
Process Improvement: Implement HR policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Drive standardisation, consolidation, automation, and process improvements.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
Identifies processes within HR that require change to continuously ensure appropriate governance, compliance, improvement of business applications, and processes
Ensures annual review of all HR related policies, SOPs, to evaluate and implement any necessary changes
Collaboration: Collaborate with HR areas and business leaders to understand their needs and align HR services accordingly.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor HR metrics and use data to drive continuous improvement. Ensure adherence to standards and SLAs.
Transformation: Lead the identification, development, and execution of process improvement program initiatives, supporting the global strategic objectives of the Shared Services organisation.
Employee Experience: Improve Employee overall experience with HR services by focusing our support on self-services with proper standards.
Strategic Outsourcing: Key projects for example payroll outsourcing.
Technology Integration and Automation: lead HRIS agenda (workday) to implement updates to HR technology, maintain and enhance current systems.
Work with the global HR teams to understand what works well in their territories
Manages the implementation and administration of human resources programmes, policies, and procedures in an HR shared services model. Responsible to build and lead an HR Shared Services team that will support all UK based employees.
Responsible for building and managing HR Shared Services Operations, ensuring efficient support, and outstanding employee experience and effective quality control and operational governance.
Serves as liaison to internal stakeholders and maintains service level agreements. Monitors efficiency, utilisation, and effectiveness of shared service teams.
Providing HR operational thought leadership through effective partnership with regional and global HR peers.
Engages and manages necessary vendor relationships on behalf of HR function, ensuring compliance with annual budgeting process and contract reviews/renewals, contract/vendor management and approvals.
Ensure that proper reporting and dashboards are provided to manage the business and for compliance requirements.
Ensures the effective deployment and ongoing maintenance of an internal HR knowledge library – common repository for HR Shared Services representatives to access and leverage standardized FAQs, process maps, toolkits, resources to be service and support employees and managers with HR related enquiries, needs, etc.
Serves as liaison to internal stakeholders and defines and maintains service level agreements of the Shared Services team.
Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Lead and manage a team of HR Shared Services representatives, providing guidance, support, and regular performance feedback. Develop and implement training to enhance the team’s skills and knowledge.
Understands and works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive HR data and information – ensuring compliance with data privacy, GDPR, and other relevant data management regulations
The person:
Degree educated and L7 in HR related field
Progressive HR experience with a strong background in leading an HR Shared Services Centre. Ideally you will have set up a highly capable shared service centre from inception or have led transformation in a poorly performing function ending in a high level employee focused experience
Knowledge, skills and experience in HR operations, HR Shared Services, project or system implementations and/or change management in complex organisations.
In depth experience with payroll systems and vendors, HRIS systems such as Oracle, SAP and SuccessFactors, Workday
Experience in building and leading high performing teams.
Experience with process review and mapping.
Experience in implementing HR Shared Services or executing HR merger, acquisition or restructuring processes will be an advantage.
Availability to work in a Hybrid model (3 times a week in the office) and for travelling to other sites
