Insurance Strategist - EMEA, VP III, State Street Global Advisors

Who we are looking for?

We are seeking a senior Insurance Strategist, to join a newly created team, reporting into Head of Insurance Strategy. As part of a global team, you will have responsibility for driving all business strategies to grow significant market share across the Insurance client segment in EMEA. As part of the Insurance centre of excellence, you will work closely with Global Client Coverage colleagues to engage with Insurance clients on product needs, investment topics and asset allocation ideas to drive solution-oriented approach to delivering SSGA investment capabilities.

As a senior Insurance Strategist, you will demonstrate expertise of the Insurance client sector, have considerable insights into the regulatory considerations for this client group and be proactive in driving and positioning investment solutions to address client needs. With the growth into ETFs and portfolio solutions, ETF Education, the development of use cases for the efficacy of ETF’s as a tool for portfolio construction will be a core competency required. You will be responsible for developing all relevant thought leadership for Insurance companies in your region, working closely with colleagues globally where relevant.

You will be an educator, collaborator and trusted investment solution provider, helping our clients and delivering domain knowledge expertise to exceed client expectations.

This role offers the right candidate an opportunity to grow their existing knowledge through interesting and challenging client work, based in Europe or UK.

Responsibilities

Leading regional strategy in partnership with Client Coverage Group to grow market share across Insurance client segment feeding into the development of the business strategy and identify demand for new products; develop, position and support those products alongside client coverage teams with Insurance Companies.

Demonstrates deep understanding of Insurance client needs, regulatory developments and considerations related to investment decision making for EMEA based Insurance companies

Takes ownership of positioning investment solutions and provide appropriate training and materials to support strategy for Client Coverage Group.

Bring in insights and ideas for the development of investment solutions and structures, while taking into account local regulatory rules and constraints

Work with investors and their advisors to identify and assess investment needs and recommend suitable investment strategies and solutions

Develop a strong partnership with the portfolio management teams to maintain in-depth knowledge, in particular of fixed income markets and SSGA investment capabilities, serving as an expert to client coverage and other stakeholder groups. 

Support with the provision of competitive intelligence for business leadership, partners, and other internal stakeholders on the insurance industry, ETFs, and buying behaviour of competing Investment solutions or ETF strategies applicable to the Insurance clients 

Have the ability to strategically position and present SSGA investment strategies [including ETFs] externally at client meetings, industry conferences and meetings with other market participants.

Develop marketing, servicing and educational materials, including client presentations, white papers, and other thought leadership materials to become a leading investment partner for Insurance Companies.

Support with regulatory advocacy and keep abreast of industry, market and company trends, to understand key concerns and opportunities for each line of business with Insurance Companies.

Deep expertise in Insurance regulatory landscape and experience in positioning investment solutions with Insurance clients

Build and sustain strong working partnerships with our partners, marketing, product and investment teams, including planning for go-to-market strategies, research agendas, and client engagement tactics

The ability to discuss cross-asset investment concepts, as well as have a considerable understanding of portfolio construction techniques, including trading implementation strategies.

Strong understanding of the benefits of the ETF structure and how it functions in the secondary and primary markets and it’s use cases relevant to Insurance clients.

The capacity to develop and sustain strong working partnerships with our marketing, product and investment teams

Strong numerical skills with ability to present sophisticated topics to clients

Has a solutions orientated mind-set and collaborates for success.

High level of integrity and professionalism

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of financial services experience

Strong insights into Insurance regulatory regime requirements and impact of investment solutions

Experience or ambition to deliver educational content

Available for travel regionally as required

Knowledge of Insurance market, ETF use cases and applicability in Insurance company portfolio’s.

Track record of engaging at senior level on portfolio construction topics with investors.

Excellent communications skills to present sophisticated solutions to client

Ability to work efficiently with and influence internal and external partners

Positive attitude with a strong team orientation, and is enthusiastic to educate team members and clients

Additional European language skills are advantageous
