The Mandeville Practice, a dynamic andgrowing practice in Bucks, has an exciting opportunity for a motivated,enthusiastic and experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our team.
The successful candidate would maintain ourvalues of excellent patient care and join our vision of meeting the healthneeds of our diverse population. Previous experience of working as a HCA in aNHS GP Practice would be advantageous.
The successful candidate would work as partof an excellent administrative and a multidisciplinary clinical team (includingGPs, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Clinical Pharmacists).
We aim to develop positive, supportive andprofessional relationships with every patient, clinician and alliedprofessionals that we come in contact with
We use Emis Web clinical system
Working hours: Minimum hours per week
Main duties of the job
To assist in patient care and practicerelated duties as directed by and under the supervision of a registeredhealthcare professional. The post holder will work collaboratively with thegeneral practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy andprocedures.

Job responsibilities
You will be required to undertake and record the following tasks:
Measurement of blood pressure, temperature
Measurement of pulse, height and weight
Referral to weight management services
Peak flow measurements-following additionaltraining
Venepuncture
Collection of specimens as directed
Urinalysis
Blood Glucose monitoring patient education
Application of dressings (as directed bythe practice nurse)
Ecgs
Extended new patient registrations checks
Additionally, you will also be required to
Recognise changes in the patientsobservations which must be reported and acted on
Assist clinicians in emergency managementof patients
Enable patients to access appropriateprofessional in the practice team
Act as a chaperone
Appreciate the Principles of Healthy Living
Provide relevant health promotionliterature for patients
Is the link person within the practice forhealth promotion activities including cervical/ breast/bowel and chlamydiascreening
Carry out NHS health checks, CVD /Diabeticand any other requirements in line with the Local Incentive schemes/ Extendedprimary care contract and QOF
Latent TB Testing
Alcohol screening (audit C) for all newregistrations aged 16 years and above
Administer flu and pneumococcal vaccine asper the TWN CCG/practice guidelines
Responsible for the collection of clinicalwaste/sample /sharps bins and take to designated storage areas ready forcollection.
Responsible for any spillages that mayoccur on the premises in line with infection control/practice policy
24 hour ABPM fitting /setting up of device
Spirometry
Clearly represent patients point of view toothers
NON-CLINICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure stock items are ordered and providedin GP & treatment rooms, emergency equipment
Maintain clinical equipment efficiently andensures servicing is undertaken
Follow infection control standards
Contribute to new ideas to improve patientcare
Instruct patients in appropriate techniquesor tasks
Administrative Support to clinicians andnon-clinicians
Liaise with health care professionals
Filing and record keeping as appropriate
Undertake template entry as directed
Help nursing staff order medicines,vaccines, and clinical supplies, and maintain stock checks of the previouslymentioned items when directed
Checking vaccine fridge temperature daily andchecking expiry dates of drugs on a regular basis
Follow up DNAs in accordance with practiceprotocol
Work effectively in a team including
Provide reception cover if requestedincluding answering the telephone, receiving and transmitting messages, formfilling, book patient appointments
Interact with colleagues in a professionalmanner
Always act in a way to protect theconfidentiality of patients and maintain the integrity of the patient/healthcarer relationship
Maintain and adhere to Health and safetyprinciples at all times
Always be aware of own limitations and donot carry out any task or procedure that is beyond the HCAs scope of competence

Maintain set standards of organisation indevelopment treatment rooms
Take appropriate action if standards arenot being met
Recognise potential areas of conflict,preventing where possible and reporting to senior staff members if unable toresolve
Attend regular study days and maintain safestandards of practice
Maintain your personal development profile
Act as a support and share good practicewith other health care assistants
To familiarise oneself with and endorse thePractice policy on confidentiality and ensure that all information concerningpatients, staff and Practice business is treated as strictly confidential atall times.

Qualifications
Essential
-GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths -Qualified to NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care -Literate and able to perform basic numerical calculations -Fluent in spoken and written English -Ability to accurately receive, record and relay information both verbally and written -Ability to store and retrieve files from numerical, alphabetical and computerised filing systems -Computer skill including working with the EMIS Web clinical system -Ability to work on own initiative -Ability to organise delegated work The candidate must have: -Health Care Support Experience -Phlebotomy -To have worked within a practice setting -Experience of working as a health care assistant or equivalent -Knowledge of local community and understanding of a multi-cultural, racially diverse population -Awareness of health and safety issues in the work place -Understanding of the need to keep and maintain accurate records -Understanding of equal opportunities -Understanding of the importance of patient confidentiality and the consequences of breaking confidentiality -Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary, multi-agency primary care team -Polite and helpful manner -Enthusiasm to learn -Openness to explore alternative working practices -Flexible with working hours -Must have Hepatitis B/Covid Vaccine or be willing to undergo a vaccination programme
Desirable
-Candidates with both clerical and health care support experience will be at an advantage. Those candidates with only one set of experience must demonstrate a willingness to learn the other set of skills. -Experience of dealing with the public face to face and over the telephone -Fluent in one or more languages in the local community and willingness to use this skill in working with the public -Reception experience -Flexible with working hours-
