We have an exciting opportunity to join our award-winning HR team as a Apprentice HR Services Assistant. Reporting to the Head of HR, this role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of HR transactional services for our management teams and colleagues, adopting a continuous improvement philosophy to drive quality and efficiency. The role will provide a professional service focusing on HR processes in accordance with statutory requirements and Company policies and procedures while being the main interface between Payroll and East Midlands Railway. Alongside the performance of the role will be an apprenticeship qualification in HR management (CIPD).

EMR will fully fund this qualification through the apprenticeship levy and depending on your current qualification level we are able to support level 3 or level 5 in HR management.

Responsibilities include:

Becoming a guru in our terms and conditions of employment, in order to answer queries from internal stakeholders Be the first point of contact for data held on the HR Systems, supporting data subject access requests and ensuring data is held and distributed in line with GDPR legislation. Working with Transport UK payroll team, ensuring all employees receive the correct pay in a timely way, managing exceptions, collating queries and escalating where appropriate and supporting the administration of pay awards. Proactively seek out opportunities for process improvement across all HR Services processes and sharing knowledge with other members of the HR team. Liaising with third party providers provide administration for employee benefits. Work with the HR Business Partners, to support the management of HR Casework to develop a good understanding of Employee Relations.

We are looking for: 

Someone who is keen to start a career in HR or further develop their current career in HR An individual with a ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to be flexible Strong Maths and English skills (minimum GSCE Grade C/4 or equivalent). Educated to A level or equivalent standard Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills An analytical and logical thinker who enjoys process, detail, and continuous improvement Confident manipulating data in excel Well developed use of IT systems including email, Word, Excel and ideally Microsoft forms
