Job summary

We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual to join our Ophthalmology Directorate, thriving in a challenging and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the NHS and a solid understanding of the 18-week Pathway. Strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to perform well under pressure as a key team player are essential.

Main duties of the job

This role requires a high level of concentration and accurate detailed work at all times. To receive and make telephone calls via the NetCall system and take appropriate action/discussion in line with Trust Values. Maintaining filing/scanning system and other basic office duties. The post holder is required to work with minimal supervision of the Patient Pathway Coordinators. Be responsible for communicating cancellations to all relevant parties with the reasons for cancellation. Will be asked to show flexibility should the need arise when providing cross-cover during times of leave/sickness as and when required. Must at all times respect the confidentiality of all electronically stored information and written data, particularly where it relates to patients (in line with the Data Protection and Patient Confidentiality policies). To comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act, Acceptable use policy, Social Media policy and legislation relating to confidential data. To adhere to the standards of dress code and uniform policy by wearing the department uniform at all times. Any other reasonable duties requested by the management team. On occasions, it may be necessary for the post holder to assist other administrative departments within the Service. To ensure that all relevant BlueTeq requests are added to the BlueTeq prior approval authorisation system prior to any patient undergoing treatment.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Ensure accurate and comprehensive patient records and clinical details including outpatient referrals are added onto EPR in a timely manner, according to the Trusts Elective Access Policy and Data Quality. Log and Book appointments on EPR as per the Trusts Elective Access Policy and assist the Patient Pathway Coordinators to ensure all referrals are clinically triaged within 48 hours of receipt of referral. Ensure that patients on ERS (Electronic Referral System) are given appointment dates in accordance with clinical priority and then length of wait, and that patients on the ASI (Appointment Slot Issues) list are managed daily. Assist the Patient Pathway Coordinators with managing and maintaining the appointments for booking list on ERS. Ensure that the appropriate action is taken following both patient and hospital cancellations, such that the utilisation of elective outpatient capacity is maximised and patients are kept informed. Ensure that the patients 18 week RTT pathway is correct on EPR before undertaking any changes to the patient pathway. Proactively monitor all outpatient clinics and highlight over or under booking of clinics to the Patient Pathway Coordinators. Person Specification

Essential

GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, grades A-C Good knowledge of patient pathways Maintains high standards and quality of work

Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient data systems including; Excellent diary maintenance scheduling skills Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
