Job summary
The Parenteral Services Unit (PSU) of the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Senior Technician who has experience of stock management, and wishes to develop their management and supervisory skills while working in our busy aseptic unit.
The role will also enable you to identify and implement positive changes to our processes that will have a real impact on patients, the department and the Trust.
The unit provides cytotoxic chemotherapy treatments and Parenteral Nutrition to the BHOC, St. Michael's Hospital and the Bristol Royal Children's Hospital. You will be joining our dynamic team of pharmacists, technicians and assistants at an exciting and challenging time in developing a first class aseptic service.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential and you must be organised, flexible, adaptable, and able to work well with and motivate a team.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work within a team of Senior Technicians, each with dedicated responsibilities. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for:
Stock management
The post-holder will hold overall responsibility for all ordering and stock control activities in the department as detailed in the job description.
Chemotherapy service
Assisting the Senior Technician team with the day-to-day running of chemotherapy service.
Staff Management
Management and supervisory responsibilities as detailed in the job description.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
Relevant level 3 (or higher) qualification Level 3 NVQ in Pharmaceutical Services Evidence of continuous professional development, leadership training
Desirable
Registered, or eligible to register, with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacy technician (if applicable) Accredited Product Approver, or willing to undertake training and accreditation within an agreed timeframe (if applicable) (
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
Considerable experience of procurement / stock management in a hospital setting (2 years minimum) Evidence of working with diverse stakeholder groups (For example, customers/clients/suppliers) Experience in staff supervision and training Demonstrable experience of planning, development or service improvement
Desirable
A working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice Experience in aseptic preparation services, with specific experience in chemotherapy
Skills and Abilities
Essential
