Job Summary

The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Parenteral Services Unit (PSU), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation of chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition (PN) treatments.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the chemotherapy preparation service, coordinating with other team members to ensure seamless delivery of treatments.
  • Coordinate the PN aseptic preparation service, working closely with other PN Senior Pharmacy Technicians to ensure efficient and safe preparation of PN treatments.
  • Manage and supervise a team of pharmacy technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet the required standards.
  • Develop and implement effective stock management systems to ensure accurate tracking and control of chemotherapy and PN drug lines.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of patient care.

Requirements
  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacy technician or relevant scientific body.
  • Accredited to perform pre- and in-process checks (Band 6).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in aseptic preparation services, with specific experience in chemotherapy (Band 6).
  • A working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in staff supervision and training (Band 6).
