Transfer Services Specialist

We're looking to recruit a new Transfers Services Specialist. Reporting to the Head of Transfer Services, the Specialist will develop and continuously cultivate expert knowledge of the administration and management of transfer services. Transfer Services Specialists will have responsibility helping to achieve transfer targets across Taylor & Francis portfolio, including PeerJ, Dove Medical Press and F1000Research, using the variety of transfer workflows available, as appropriate. This role will also hold lead responsibility for one of the transfer workflows including applying continuous improvement methodologies to improve researcher experience and success metrics.

What you’ll be doing:
Act as initial escalation point for Transfer Services Editors, providing technical support and guidance Responsible for experiments to affect success metrics (offers, uptake and acceptance) of transfers Contribute to efforts to raise number of transfer offers made, uptake rate on transfer offers and acceptance rates of transferred manuscripts Investigate potential issues with an impact on offers made, uptake and acceptance rates Contribute to strategic initiatives Role-holder is proactive and autonomous, delivering an annually agreed Transfer projects. Blockers and risks are escalated appropriately to the Head of Transfers Services only after tenacity and creativity have been applied Effective team player, able to prioritise workload effectively to accommodate competing demands Effective liaison with colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers, including prompt feedback, reporting on performance and championing escalated issues Actively cultivate own knowledge of industry standards and developments to inform best practice
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint Understanding of academic publishing, preferably Journals Interest in developing industry and market awareness Production or content management experience (desirable) Experience in Open Access publishing would be an advantage Basic project management skills and understanding of Lean process methodologies would advantageousSkills and Behaviours Required
While this role includes no direct line management, ability to influence and persuade, as well as monitor and support team project working would be a distinct advantage Support and contribute to delivery of business results Teamwork, networking and building relationships Calm and logical response under pressure Being responsible for managing own workload Attention to detail Ability to prioritise appropriately and work to deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Handle and communicate information sensitively and professionally Financial, industry and Commercial awareness Customer focus Accountable for managing own learning, taking responsibility to identify and develop skills gaps and active knowledge sharing. Agile product development principles would also be advantageous.
