About the role

One Research Technician position has become available within the CBC at the UCL Cancer Institute. The successful applicant will play a vital role in supporting the CBC’s mission for Studying Health and Disease. Their main duty will be to assist the CBC team of research scientists with the day-to-day running of operations. This includes receiving and processing clinical samples, running validated assays, assisting scientist with assay development and method validation, ensuring good housekeeping of the laboratory, interacting with CBC users, and performing administrative tasks such as ordering and reporting.

About you

The candidate will have a degree or demonstrated experience in a subject related to Biomedical sciences. They will have experience in working in a research laboratory ideally with a broad range of techniques. They will have previous experience or be willing to develop skills in sample processing, histology techniques and next-generation sequencing approaches. They will show excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, and previous experience in data management by using Excel spreadsheets and databases is an advantage. They will need to work flexibly and adapt to various tasks as required. They will need to act responsibly when dealing with the CBC stakeholders and confidential information. All work at the CBC is performed at Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) standards and training will be given in all tasks, which will be carried out using standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The position is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
