About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute for a Histology Technician who will enhance the research capacity of the Institute by providing technical support to its researchers. The successful applicant will join a small team of research technicians responsible for the delivery and optimization of histology services such as tissue processing and embedding, sectioning, staining, slide scanning, and the building of tissue micro-arrays in a timely and efficient manner.

The Institute is looking to introduce a molecular pathology service, including immunohistochemistry (IHC), nucleic acid extraction, and spatial transcriptomics. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual with broad laboratory experience, who is committed to providing a high-quality histology service to our users and who enjoys working as part of a busy team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to researchers in the delivery and optimization of histology services
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new histology services and techniques
  • Collaborate with the UCL/UCLH Biobank for Health and Disease and the UCL/UCLH Cancer Biomarker Centre
  • Support projects across the Institute and interact with a wide range of researchers
Requirements
  • Experience of laboratory skills in microtomy and cryotomy of human and animal samples
  • BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
  • Great attention to detail and experience in managing data using Excel spreadsheets and databases
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work as part of a busy team and contribute to a high-quality histology service
