About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in histology and sample handling, with experience in managing complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technical Expertise
    Provide advanced technical expertise in tissue sample handling, with a thorough understanding of the underlying technical and scientific theory. Lead innovation in the specialist field, adopting new approaches and adapting these to the local research needs.
  2. Management and Organisational Skills
    Manage specialised Head and Neck biobanking facilities, line managing biobank technicians and monitoring performance and compliance to regulations. Provide training on technical areas of specialism to staff and students as appropriate.
  3. Teamwork and Communication
    Develop positive working relationships with staff, students, and key partners within and beyond the Trust and KCL. Communicate highly complex, specialist concepts and information in a clear fashion, where necessary to be understandable to a non-expert audience.
  4. Education and Professional Development
    Take responsibility for identifying personal training and educational needs within the context of the service and those identified during the appraisal process. Maintain a record to reflect any training carried out pertaining to the post.
