About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Biomedical Scientist, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support to our histology service, working closely with our team of scientists and doctors to deliver high-quality laboratory results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the histology service, including specimen preparation, staining, and microscopy
  • Conduct quality control checks on laboratory results and implement corrective actions as necessary
  • Develop and maintain laboratory procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with UKAS and HCPC accreditation
  • Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure smooth laboratory operations and effective communication
  • Participate in staff training and development programs to maintain and improve laboratory skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • IBMS Accredited BSc Biomedical Science degree
  • Completed IBMS specialist portfolio
  • Registration with the HCPC as a biomedical scientist
  • Proven experience post HCPC registration in a Cellular Pathology laboratory
  • Experience of working with Laboratory Information Management Systems
