This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior Clinical Fellow at SHO-level to undertake a post in Respiratory Medicine including General Medicine on-calls. It is ideal for a doctor who is considering a career in medicine or gaining further experience in respiratory and general internal medicine. This post will enable you to further develop clinical knowledge and skills across the respiratory and general internal medicine curriculum
You will work with a dynamic multidisciplinary team. Your training will mirror that given to doctors in training programs within the department and you will be allocated a Consultant Educational Supervisor to support your career development and a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for your placement. You will be encouraged to grow as a clinician and participate in governance including mortality reviews, QIPs, departmental and trust-wide educational activities.
Main duties of the job
Respiratory ward work
Attend 2 consultant led ward rounds per week and will undertake daily ward rounds (either supported by a SpR or independently led)
General Medicine On-call
The Medical Take is staffed by 1 SpR, 2 SHO grade and an F1 grade doctor. There is an average of 25-30 patients admitted over a 24-hour period. During the day, there is a continuous consultant post take ward round providing the opportunity for immediate feedback and learning. Overnight, Consultant advice is available by telephone, and patients are reviewed on the morning post take ward round.
