Job summary

The Division of Emergency Care and Acute Medicine has an exciting role for a Band 4 Patient Pathway Co-ordinator to join our Specialist Medicine POD. As part of our team, you will be working closely with our operational management team, clinical & nursing teams to support with the day to day challenges the team faces.

The successful candidate will join a wonderful team who provide comprehensive, professional and efficient administrative support and help the service meet national target at Newham University Hospital.

Candidates should be confident in themselves, quick to learn IT systems, flexible approach to learning and familiar with MS Word, Excel. Communication is key to this role and the team is always open to listening to new approaches with the aim of improving patient experience and care

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this post is to actively manage the administrative processes of patient pathways, ensuring a smooth and efficient service for patients throughout their treatment by the Trust. Also to ensure and participate in providing an effective administration service to the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Essential

GCSE A Level or equivalent standard of Education AMSPAR or equivalent a good level of medical terminology ECDL or equivalent experience experience of a range of IT packages such as word, excel, outlook and power point Awareness of patient pathways. Understanding of patient priorities and performance targets Knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes

Desirable

Supervisory or office management skills equivalent to certificate level

Experience

Minimum of 3 years medical secretarial/pathway administration experience

Knowledge

Knowledge of national targets with respect to the patient pathway. A sound knowledge and demonstrable competence re 18 week referral to treatment rules
