Main duties of the job
As a senior nurse and autonomous practitioner, you will be the professional specialist nurse lead for Paediatric and Neonatal Organ Donation and Transplantation in the UK who ensures that clinical excellence is maintained. Using your highly specialist experience within this developing field of practice, you will be responsible for :-Providing expert professional advice to all specialist nurses in Organ Donation and Transplantation across the UK as a visible and credible expert role modelWorking with the National Clinical Lead for Paediatrics and other key stakeholders to negotiate and influence, effecting change in order to ensure there are appropriate systems, guidance and processes in place to deliver good quality clinical care through the implementation of national standards of practiceLeading the development and implementation of a national paediatric and neonatal organ donation strategy that complements the organisational and Transplantation strategy across the UKCommissioning and leading research to improve organ donation, transplantation and utilisation rates from the paediatric and neonatal population.You will be required to participate in the on-call service to facilitate organ donation in line with the full Specialist Nurse Organ Donation job role. When undertaking these duties, you will be accountable to the relevant Organ Donation Team Manager.
