An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Performance Manager to join our team working full time (5 days per week, Mon-Fri).
We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Deputy Performance Manager to join our established team within the Medicine Division. Candidates must meet the essential criteria within the person specification or be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role.

Main duties of the job
This interesting and varied role requires the ability to work well on your own initiative whilst being committed to teamwork to ensure work is completed to meet Trust targets. You must possess the ability to manage a variety of tasks and prioritise these accordingly whilst working under pressure. Good communication skills and the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive issues in a professional manner are essential.
The successful candidate will be confident in working within a team of multi-disciplinary professionals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Planning and Organisational Duties
Rigorously monitor and manage performance within own area of responsibility, to assist in achieving diagnostic and outpatient targets. In conjunction with Directorate aims and objectives, develop and introduce systems of waiting list management that are patient-focused, efficient and allow pro-active management of increased demand. Coordinate day case planners. Ensure accuracy of Directorate 18-week waiting information using the trust Information Management System and ensure compliance with national guidance on definitions and local policies In response to Directorate negotiations, develop and implement systems to achieve a balance between referral and hospital capacity. In conjunction with appropriate Directorates, regularly monitor and adapt systems to ensure clinic templates are full and in conjunction with Trust policy, assist in developing robust booking systems in order to optimally use capacity Develop, analyse, and review standardisation of clinic templates across the directorate to identify a more efficient scheduling of activity, and to ensure maximum capacity in order to comply with electronic booking. Where necessary ensure appropriate training of others to assist in the maintenance and it’s compliance Assist in the development and maintenance of different information systems (and technology) to support the effective management of resources within the designated area of responsibility. Across the area of responsibility review clinic utilisation to identify opportunities for improvements and implement change accordingly. Ensuring outpatient and inpatient capacity is filled by validating PTLs A high level of specialist knowledge is required to make decisions on specific changes needed to achieve the specific directorate aims, objectives & targets Complete Datix Incidents in line with Trust Policy Responsible for the case management of complaints as allocated by the Divisional Governance Team Regularly monitor and adapt systems to ensure clinic templates are full and in conjunction with Trust Policy, assist in developing robust booking systems in order to optimally use capacity Across the area of responsibility, support admissions in order to optimally use outpatient capacity Make changes to improve patient pathways, liaising with other senior managers from relevant departments to ensure change is implemented and communicated Responsible for carrying out weekly one to ones with admissions teams, managing and reviewing their performance, to ensure compliance with National RTT Guidelines Review consultant follow up backlogs and identify any capacity issues Review consultant access times and identify any capacity issues High level of specialist knowledge is required to make decisions on specific changes needed to achieve specific directorate aims, objectives and targetsCommunications and Key Working Relationships

Order goods in accordance with the Trust’s financial framework / Standing Financial Instructions Support the identification, implementation and monitoring of year-on-year cost improvement programmes and delivery of cost improvements, service developments and income generation opportunities within the Directorate. Assist in ensuring, as far as practical, appropriate cover to all aspects of the Directorates Medical services, whilst maintaining financial control and European Working Time Directorate Work with rota co-ordinators to review outpatient demands and negotiate any alignment in the medical staff’s rotas Plan & negotiate contingencies for unpredictable short-term sickness of medical staff to ensure Inpatient/Outpatient coverage is found in order to maintain National & Trust Targets. Demonstrates an open door policy and that open and inclusive working relationships are developed with front line staff being fully involved in Directorate decision making. Provide a supportive and developmental environment in which staff are motivated to realise their full potential as identified through Performance Development Review and the implementation of the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF). Ensure that staff under his or her direction are managed in line with HR policies and procedures, paying particular attention to capability, conduct, performance and attendance management Ensure that the philosophy and best practice for “Improving Working Lives” are adopted, openly discussed and implemented. Review outpatient and inpatient demands using knowledge and understanding in negotiating any alignment in medical staff rotas. Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 – the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. Ensure that effective lines of communication are established within post holder’s areas of responsibility. Liaise with medical colleagues to maximise the effective running of the Directorate. Utilising data on the Trust’s IT systems generate reports to inform and influence practice and service delivery Ensure accuracy of 18 week sign off information using Trust BI systems Responsible for validating the Chartered Cancellation report for the Division and sending manual exclusions to BI Responsible for the validation of 18 weeks pathways to ensure nationally reported data, making changes to pathways where necessary Communicating service related information and 18 week position to senior managers as requestedResponsibility for Governance
To minimise hazards in the working area and ensure that staff under his/her direction adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the area of work.
