An opportunity has arisen in our "Think Family" team for the role of Named Nurse for Children Safeguarding.
Whipps Cross Hospital model for Safeguarding is under the umbrella term of "Think Family". We firmly believe that safeguarding is everyone's business, and the focus should be family rather than the individual only.
The safeguarding team are collocated in a 'Think Family' office space which includes the Hospital IDVA, St Giles Youth Workers and Learning Disability team. This allows the delivery of Think Family approach.
We are looking for an experienced Named Nurse Children Safeguarding to join our fantastic team.
You will need to have extensive experience in children safeguarding and be able to work independently but collaboratively.
You will have expert knowledge of current legislation and statutory guidance relating to safeguarding children. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work effectively and respond appropriately in challenging circumstances.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder, as part of the safeguarding children team, will take a lead to ensure the requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023) are met. This work will incorporate the key elements of the Children Acts 1989 and 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023) and the Care Quality Commission Core Standards.
The post holder will demonstrate advanced skills and competencies to influence the pathways of care in the safeguarding of children, working closely with the named professions at hospital and group level to ensure that the hospital / Trust meets its statutory responsibilities to protect the welfare of children.
They will initiate and add to research evidence in the field of safeguarding to ensure that evidence-based practice is inherent in all aspects of care. The role requires a high level of legal literacy of the Children Act and family law that interface with the safeguarding children agenda.
