Working Pattern:  Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

The difference you will make as a Insurance Apprentice

You will support the Groups insurance function by providing assistance with claim handling and management. To learn about all facets of insurance in a social housing sector and to understand how annual renewals work. Work with external insurance experts such as insurance consultants, Broker’s and insurance providers. Support the Groups insurance officers in identifying claims trends and gaps in risk management that may lead to claims. 

About the Apprenticeship

Training Provider : BPP

Apprenticeship Standard : Insurance Practitioner Level 3

Expected duration of training : 18 months

The training:

Insurance Practitioner (level 3) Certificate in Insurance (CII) Functional skills in maths and English (if required)

Role Profile

Daily monitoring of the insurance teams email inbox and identify new claims. Learn how to process and investigate claims including identifying the cause by, gathering supporting documents, information and working with internal stakeholders.  Record all new claims on the Groups insurance claims tracking database. Respond promptly to enquiries by internal and external parties.  To support the insurance teams daily email contact into the insurance mailbox, form internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all queries are responded to promptly. To review assigned claims before submission to the insurance company, providing information and documents to both the insurance company and any nominated legal parties gathering all required information prior to submission or as requested by the insurers.  To assist the Insurance Team with the gathering of information for the annual insurance renewal/tender.  Assist the Insurance Team with intercompany campaigns and ad-hoc training to staff.  Assisting in finance queries, such as invoices, purchase orders, excess and premium queries and claim costs. 

Other Information

This role is a development position to enable the holder to learn about insurance in a housing association setting. The role is hybrid with the expectation that time will be spent on site at the Head office in Speke to enable collaboration with the rest of the audit team.  The role will involve completing a 12-month Insurance Practitioner Level 3 course with a 3-month End Point Assessment.  Dedicated study time will be included in the role with full support from The Insurance Team.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

Minimum of GCSE’s Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Strong time management and organisational skills. A basic understanding of Insurance and strong will to progress in this field. Ability to show initiative and manage conflicting demands and deadlines. The ability to successfully persuade and influence others both internally and external to the organisation. Evidence of using sound judgement when making effective decisions. Customer focused with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.  Excellent attention to detail and ability be consistent in that approach.  Knowledge Microsoft Office in particular Microsoft Excel and Word.
