CAMHS Practitioner/ Creative Therapist

We are looking for a Creative Therapist/CAMHS practitioner to join our innovative and friendly Emotional Health Service in our established schools programme team.

The post is full time, fixed term for 9 months and will involve working in schools across Kingston with touch down office space in Richard Challoner School.

About the role

This post will sit within CAMHS Trailblazer Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in Kingston. This trailblazer team has been in place since January 2021 and consists of four Trainee Educational Wellbeing Practitioners (EWPs), and a part-time Clinical Lead. We are looking to develop the team with two more clinicians who will be in the role of CAMHS Practitioners. Within the wider team (which has been running since 2019), we already have five established creative therapists.

The MHST work within a cluster of primary and secondary schools with a combined total population of 8,000 pupils each. MHSTs work jointly with schools and cluster leads to implement a whole school approach to mental health across the cluster, informed by the needs outlined on the cluster action plan. In Kingston, we have a specific focus on reducing health inequalities in the BAME community and related issues of depression and anxiety in the borough's school pupils.

The purpose of this post is to:

Undertake assessments Deliver high quality low to moderate level interventions to children and families (both group and 1:1) Provide workshops and support for parents Provide consultations, support and training to school staff

About you

To be a CAMHS practitioner at AfC, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following points:

Putting children and young people first Qualified Creative Therapist or Mental Health Nurse Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties Experience in delivering brief intervention therapy groups (either creative or CBT groups) to children and young people
