Job summary

We are looking for a Creative Therapist/CAMHS practitioner to join our innovative and friendly Emotional Health Service in our established schools programme team.

The post is full time, fixed term for 9 months and will involve working in schools across Kingston with touch down office space in Richard Challoner School.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this post is to:

Undertake assessments Deliver high quality low to moderate level interventions to children and families (both group and 1:1) Provide workshops and support for parents Provide consultations, support and training to school staff

To be a CAMHS practitioner at AfC, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following points:

Putting children and young people first Qualified Creative Therapist or Mental Health Nurse Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/orbehavioural difficulties Experience in delivering brief intervention therapy groups (either creative or CBT groups) to children and young people

About us

This post will sit within CAMHS Trailblazer Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) inKingston. This trailblazer team has been in place since January 2021 and consists of fourTrainee Educational Wellbeing Practitioners (EWPs), and a part-time Clinical Lead. We arelooking to develop the team with two more clinicians who will be in the role of CAMHSPractitioners. Within the wider team (which has been running since 2019), we already havefive established creative therapists.

The MHST work within a cluster of primary and secondary schools with a combined totalpopulation of 8,000 pupils each. MHSTs work jointly with schools and cluster leads to implement a whole school approach to mental health across the cluster, informed by theneeds outlined on the cluster action plan. In Kingston, we have a specific focus on reducinghealth inequalities in the BAME community and related issues of depression and anxiety inthe borough's school pupils.

The post holder will undertake a range of therapeutic tasks with both primary and secondary schools including; assessment of young people in schools who present with mild to moderate levels of difficulty, offering individual, group, parent and family interventions as appropriate within the school setting, supporting the delivery of the whole school approach across the school cluster and the development and delivery of the cluster action plan, working with colleagues to provide training, education and support for school staff, parents and other relevant agencies within the borough, through formal teaching, consultation and provision of active clinical skills and working preventatively to build resilience and coping skills.

Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties Experience in delivering brief intervention therapy groups (either creative or CBT groups) to children and young people Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies, specifically schools Experience of a range of assessment tools and frameworks to evaluate progress and outcomes for children and young people Ability to deliver high quality group and individual interventions Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within the staff group Ability to make an assessment of risk, to record and communicate it appropriately and take appropriate action to mitigate or manage risk. Have the ability to recognise your own professional limitations and gaps and to use clinical supervision and regular CPD to overcome limitations and close knowledge gaps Proven ability to effectively use data, intelligence and evidence to create meaningful insight and to inform own decision making. Experience of building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders, including children, young people and their families. Advocating the voices of those we are working with. Experience of addressing specific equality or diversity issues within your practice with colleagues/service users and taking action to solve them
