Job Description

Role Overview

EdEx is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who require support with their speech and language development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with speech and language needs on a 1:1 basis, working on their communication skills and building rapport with them.
  • Shadow professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists, Art Therapists, and Music Therapists to gain insight into their work and learn new strategies.
  • Work closely with SEN students, including those who are non-verbal, pre-verbal, and have limited communication.
  • Use creative and imaginative ways to communicate with students and build relationships with them.
  • Support the lead teacher with resources and basic behavior management.
  • Follow set personalized plans to improve students' speech and language skills.

Requirements

  • Bright graduate with a 2:1 or 1st class degree.
  • Strong GCSE and A-Level grades.
  • Strong passion for working with students on their academia and mental health.
  • Enthusiasm and creativity to inspire children with learning.
  • The ability to write cogently and fluently with correct spelling and punctuation.
  • Patience, kindness, flexibility, good humor, and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Professional attitude and approach to work.
