Are you a looking for a rewarding and challenging role within Health and Social Care working with children and families?

Sheffield Children's are currently seeking driven and enthusiastic individuals who are looking to start or further their Health and Social Care career.

We will assess your suitability for the role and, if you are shortlisted, you will be invited to come and learn about the roles on offer, the training available and to talk to current Support Workers about what the job is really like.

We will teach you everything you need to know. To us, the most important skill is that you are a caring and kind person with a genuine desire to help and support children and their families.

This post will commence at Band 2 whilst training is completed and will be increased to Band 3 when you are fully signed off on all skills. This will be for a minimum of 12 weeks. Please note that Sheffield Children's uplift pay to meet the Living Wage, which is currently £12 per hour.

As the role requires you to travel around the community it is an essential requirement that you hold a Full Driving Licence valid for use in the UK and have use of your own vehicle.

Main duties of the job

As aHealth Care Support Worker, youwill be a hugely valuable support to our Nursing team, providing hands on clinical care to the children by supporting them to develop and participate in everyday life.

Examples of what you may do as part of your role:

Driving to multiple locations to deliver care to patients at the hospital site, in their own homes or in school settings Washing and dressing patients Serving meals and feeding patients via PEG tube Helping patients to move around Making beds Talking to patients and their families Monitoring patient condition Care of Tracheostomy's Oral/Nasal/Tracheostomy Suction Invasive & Non-Invasive Ventilation Administering Medication

The Helena Specialist Nursing Team & Ryegate House .

Our aim is to provide excellent clinical care and support to children and their families with long term ventilation needs.

We care for the children & their families in the comfort of their own homes as well as providing support in schools. Ryegate House provides overnight short breaks for children and young people aged 0-19 with complex neuro-disabilities, multiple and profound physical and learning disabilities and life-limiting conditions.

Qualifications & Criteria

Essential

GCSE A-C English & Maths or equivalent Vocational Award Level 2 in Health To have or be committed to undertaking & completing a Vocational Award Level 3 in Health Committed to completing competency packages as per clinical area

Desirable

Vocational Award Level 3 in Health or Health & Social Care

Experience

Essential

To have experience in a Care or Health & Social Care environment within a hospital or community setting Worked in a customer facing environment

Desirable

Worked with children and young people Worked within the National Health Service

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

Knowledge of Health & Safety and maintaining a safe environment Knowledge of Safeguarding children or young adults Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Infection Control principles Basic IT skills which include competency at using Word and email and commitment to learning advanced IT skills Ability to work with children, young people, their families and carers Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team Ability to show initiative and take on own responsibility and accountability and work independently Ability to prioritise workload and own time Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations
