All About the Role

You will be given the training necessary to carry out your role, including mentoring by a strong, established site team. You’ll use the latest in blended learning techniques, to ensure you receive the highest levels of training whilst working on the core business activities. The hours of work are Monday-Friday 8.30am-5pm

Specific tasks may include:

Carry out maintenance on electric overhead travelling cranes and jib cranes by means of Planned Preventive Maintenance and scheduled servicing. Carry out both mechanical and electrical repairs.  Produce service reports and monthly crane performance data for their respective sites.  Work in accordance with manufacture instruction.  Carry out risk assessments and create method statements. The design and installation of electrical panel modernisations.  The apprenticeship includes Introduction to principles & objectives as well as  Principles of Health and Safety  HASAW/PPE/Risk Assessment/Manual Handling/COSHH/Machinery Directive Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations/Working at Height/Confined Space Working Work in accordance with Safe Systems of Work/Develop safe systems of work. Code of Practice for the Safe use of Lifting Equipment (COPSULE)

Have a positive attitude to health and safety  You should be organised and methodical in your approach with a genuine interest in developing a career in Barrett Steel.  A good level of IT; able to confidently use Microsoft Word and ideally Excel and PowerPoint at a basic level GCSE qualifications in English & Maths ideally at grade 5 or above
