Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our hepato-pancreato biliary cancer team at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Liverpool as a Band 6 associate Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is a 12 month fixed term post as it will be covering for maternity leave.

The post holder will work alongside Advanced Nurse Practitioners and associate CNS. They will use their professional and clinical skills to act as a resource and advocate for patients within their specialty.

They will act as a keyworker and support the co-ordination of patient care along the treatment pathway.

They will work as a core member of the MDT supporting the cancer pathway to improve the patient experience.

They will play a key role in the development and co-ordination of services with the aim of optimising patient care

Deliver evidence based individualised patient care according to patients changing health care needs, through holistic needs assessments (HNA)

The specialist nursing team is a progressive, dynamic team, keen to build our research capability, be leaders in cancer care and at the forefront of delivering outstanding care to our patients.

We are seeking highly motivated nurses with cancer care knowledge and experience who are looking to gain more knowledge around this particular tumour group. They should possess confident decision making skills, be an excellent communicator, be innovative and have a passion to always improve our care

Main duties of the job

Attend Speciality outpatient clinics in order to meet patients and their carers and provide relevant information to support their treatment Provide psychological support and make referrals to relevant professional when appropriate Act as key worker for a clinical caseload, working to coordinate care and provide easy access for ongoing support for patients Participate in weekly review of patients on treatment. Assessing toxicities, arranging appropriate prescriptions and alerting the MDT to abnormal bloods. Arranging further follow up or admission if required Provide effective communication between patient, relatives/carer, ward and MDT Be fully conversant with treatment protocols and demonstrate knowledge of current evidence based management of patients within the speciality Liaise with the speciality research nursing team accordingly Actively participate in multi-professional meetings, acting as patient advocates Accurately document patients care in accordance with trust policies and standards Carry out clinical duties to ensure the patient pathway runs effectively and efficiently Promotes a culture that supports self-management Assess peoples information needs and provide relevant information to meet those needs Act in accordance with the NMC code and other supporting documentation

Registered General Nurse Degree in healthcare related subject Accredited learning and mentoring certificate Evidence of continued professional development
