Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Lymphoma team at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Haemato- oncology as a full time fixed term CNS, to cover maternity leave.

The post holder will provide specialist advice and support to patients and their carers throughout their care pathway, as well as providing education and support to staff throughout the trust. The post holder will support the consultant team as well as delivering nurse led services for patients with haemato-oncology.

This role is currently based at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool, however you will be required to travel to , Aintree site

You should possess advanced clinical skills, be an excellent communicator, leader and educator, and be highly motivated to lead and deliver a service. A background in cancer nursing is ideal, recent experience in working within the specialty of haemato-oncology would be essential.

Main duties of the job

? Leads the development of patientfocused education, including training toself-manage ongoing consequences oftreatment.

? Be an active part in attending caseconferences, SRGs and MDTs asrequired.

Actively participates in multi-professionalmeetings, acting as patient advocate andrepresenting nursing views.

? Takes personal responsibility for lifelong learning and personal developmentthrough clinical supervision, appraisaland maintaining compliance with Trustmandatory training.

The CNS will provide: Leadership Innovation Mastery Excellence (clinical)Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of careand providing clinical leadership to develop patient pathways and be responsible fordeveloping the nursing serviceTo participate in quality initiatives within the with the Multidisciplinary team to ensure that yourcancer service complies with the national standards forsafety and quality, which are assessed throughNational Cancer Peer Review Process and activelycontribute with work work autonomously and seek collaborativerelationships with others across and withinprofessional boundaries.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Registered General Nurse Degree in healthcare related subject Evidence of Masters level learning Post-basic qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant specialist subject. Advanced Communications Skills training or prepared to work towards Recognised Leadership qualification

Desirable

Psychological skills training- Level 2 or above MSc Clinical Examination Msc Research qualification

Experience

Essential

Relevant post registration experience, at Band 6 or above, in cancer, palliative care or the specialty. Experience of teaching In-depth specialist experience Leadership and management experience Experience of multi-professional working Evidence of advanced communications skills Ability to lead and influence change

Desirable

HNA training and undertaking eHNA Experience of writing policies and procedures Experience of working as a clinical nurse specialist Experience of audit and research Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and it's role across the UK.
