Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone to undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including scanning, completing tasks and identifying patients for review. You will process clinical correspondence safely and efficiently ensuring that it is accurately coded. You will ensure you pass appropriate issues to GPs and other members of the practice clinical team.

Experienced in Medical Secretary work; Experienced Medical Administrators, with excellent IT and typing skills; Able to process referrals to hospitals and a variety of community services Able to process patient registrations and deductions Excellent communicators able to work in a confidential and discreet manner; Able to "think on their feet" in a busy working environment; Able to multi-task, work hard and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure; Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as comfortable working independently.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Processing practice correspondence, which includes coding clinical information. Identify complex or higher risk areas that require input or knowledge from the clinical team. This includes safeguarding issues. You will work to the agreed practice protocols. You will work closely with the practice administrators and clinical team to ensure that you are providing a safe and high quality service to the practice. Liaise with external agencies such as secondary care, community service providers, solicitors and insurance companies as required. Contact patients via phone to arrange appointments for review To assist with all clerical and administrative duties within the administration department Process referrals to hospitals and a varietyof community services To process patient registrations anddeductions Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent

Desirable

- GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above) - NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care

Experience

Essential

Experience of working with the general public Experience of administrative duties

Desirable

Experience of Medical Secretary work Experience of working in a health care setting

Skills and Competencies
