Behaviour Support Worker

A school in Darwen are looking for enthusiastic, resillient individuals who can provide quality support to its pupils. The school caters for young people who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties and also children who may have special educational needs. The role may involve aspects of challening behaviour so you must be resilient and confident in handling this. You may need to provide 1:1 support or general support in the classroom. 

To be successful, experience supporting children/ young adults with additional needs is essential. Ideally this would be in an educational setting however the school will accept individuals who have experience in support work, care work etc. All we ask if you have a passion for helping individuals and are keen to learn.

Key duties:

  • Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Provide meaningful feedback on pupil attainment and progress.
  • Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting pupils’ progress according to the school’s policies in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.
  • Promote and encourage pupils social, emotional, behavioural and physcial development.
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis following an EHC plan.

 

Key Information:

  • Full-time role, Monday to Friday (8:30-3:30pm) start date ASAP or 1st September 2024.
  • Term-time only role.
  • PAYE contract.
  • Darwen based, (BB2).
  • Competitive hourly rate of pay of £12.90+ per hour depending on experience and additional duties.
  • Secondary SEMH SEN provision.
