Job summary

We are looking to welcome a Medical Receptionist to our team on a part-time basis for hours a week.

Topcliffe Surgery is a well-run and friendly two Partner Dispensing Practice, well-established in a purpose-built surgery. We operate with a strong communicative GP Partner team in a friendly staff/patient environment.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of Reception and Administrative duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Previous NHS or Receptionist experience may be seen as an advantage but not essential. An excellent can-do attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment is far more important to us. Successful applicants will be required to have a Standard DBS check and employment references.

About us

We are a friendly rural dispensing practice with a patient list size of 4,160 and increasing. The practice is a desirable place to work with a great team of friendly staff. There is a relaxed atmosphere at the surgery and the environment is very pleasant to work in. The practice believes in investment for development and training of our staff members.

Job responsibilities

Duties can include but are not limited to:

Greeting and directing patients Patient registration Booking appointments Processing of information (electronic and hard copy) Assisting patients as required Acting as the central point of contact for patients Distribution of information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team Liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers Produce meeting agendas and record the minutes of meetings, Support other Administrative and Reception staff, providing cover during staff absences, Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota. Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent

Experience of working with the public Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong IT skills Clear and polite telephone manner Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook Effective time management, with the ability to accurately plan and organise Ability to work both as a team and independently Good interpersonal skills Problem solving and analytical skills Ability to follow policies and procedures Flexible and cooperative to work between the core business hours of Mon-Fri 8am and High level of integrity Sensitive and empathetic in difficult situations Ability to work under pressure
