Job summary

To be accountable for the delivery of a highly specialist dietetic input to patients under the Gastroenterology team, including the delivery of a safe, evidence based and cost effective hospital parenteral nutrition service in collaboration with the MDT. To be responsible for the organisation of undergraduate training in liaison with provider Universities.

Main duties of the job

To support patients under the Gastroenterology team with highly specialist paediatric Dietetic advice, autonomously managing the caseload and working alongside a team of Band 8a, Band 7, Band 6 Paediatric Dietitians and with support of a Dietetic support worker and team of administrative staff.

The post holder will also be responsible for the support of a Trust wide hospital parenteral nutrition service, alongside the MDT and Band 8a and Band 7 paediatric Gastroenterology Dietitians.

Audit of the service and involvement in research is an integral element of this post. The post holder will be lead on dietetic research relating to gastroenterology patients.

The post holder will be responsible for service evaluation and development to ensure the service is evidence based, safe and cost efficient.

To practice in accordance with HCPC standards of proficiency, conduct, performance and ethics.

Nutrition/ Dietetic degree HCPC Registration as Dietitian Completion of Masters level Paediatric Dietetics modules appropriate to the speciality or equivalent level of experience and training Significant broad theoretical and practical experience of paediatric gastroenterology dietetics Previous experience of clinical supervision Experience of hospital parenteral nutrition provision and management Evidence of the development and implementation of policies and guidelines Experience of the use of critical thinking in the assessment of published research Leadership experience including completion of check ins, appraisals and agreeing work related and personal objectives in line with departmental and Trust priorities

Member of BSPGHAN and or ESPGHAN Experience in presenting at national and international meetings and conferences Experience of leading on QI projects
