Role responsibilities

The Senior Supply Chain Manager will lead and implement the supply chain vision, advising and supporting the business on supply chain strategies and initiatives that deliver value to Transport for Wales (TfW) supply chain relationships and contracts. 

Contribute to shaping and leading TfW's Supply Chain Management (SCM) strategy and vision into deliverables aligned to TfW strategic priorities through the implementation of supply chain initiatives and activities to build an environment which encourages high performance and continuous development within the SCM team and across the organisation. Lead the team in the identification and implementation of improvements and efficiencies by overseeing the supply chain management team and keeping abreast of changes in industry best practice and legislation to ensure TfW has a best in class and compliant supply chain management provision, continuously improving the supply chain management function. Develop and drive initiatives that extract value from our supply chain relationships and contracts through supply chain management strategies, delivering savings and benefits that support TfW strategic objectives. Lead the team in the shaping and development of sustainable procurement governance to include economic and social value measures by collaborating with key stakeholders across the business and external networks to implement a digital framework.

Who we’re looking for

Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) – level 5 or above or equivalent. Demonstrable experience of working in a complex supply chain environment. Demonstrable experience of developing a diverse supply chain to meet capability and capacity demands. Demonstrable experience of identifying and managing risk in the supply chain.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
