Health and Safety Manager - Glasgow

In this key role for Peak Scientific, you will be responsible for driving the Safety Culture; co-ordinating supporting and advising the business on all aspects with regards to HSE (health, safety and environmental) and the H&S (health and safety) management systems. You will be heavily involved in establishing, managing and monitoring standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with HSE within Peak Scientific, both locally and globally, are adhered to.

Your duties will include:

Ensuring a safe workplace environment without risk to health Leading on HSE improvements and initiatives including the attainment of ISO45001 accreditation Ensuring completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations Ensuring that safety inspections are carried out and recorded Establishing a full programme of documented HSE inspections, audits and checks and facilitating internal and external audits including ISO45001, PUWER, COSHH & NEBOSH Establishing a suite of HSE training, liaising with external providers in the provision of training programmes and ensuring full and accurate training records are maintained across the company

The successful candidates will be NEBOSH qualified or ideally working towards accreditation. You’ll have proven experience in leading transformational change of HSE within a manufacturing organisation and where you’ve improved safety culture whilst implementing HSE improvements. The successful candidate will be confident, flexible and able to communicate effectively at all levels within the business.

You will also possess:

Ability to work in and adapt to a rapidly changing environment Self-motivation with ability to work on own initiative COSHH Trained Provision of advice to managers/supervisors Experience of formulating, implementing and revising HSE policies and procedures to ISO 45001/ISO9001 Member of institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) desirable Strong, professional communication skills with an assertive but calm demeanour Ability to interpret legislation, regulation and clauses of ISO standards and apply understanding to Peak processes
