We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about working with school aged children including those with complex needs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative team of therapists and therapy assistants, delivering high quality SLT packages of care to children in our Mainstream and Complex Needs caseloads across a range of settings. This post will be primarily based within the Chiltern and South Bucks area, although the candidate may need to support the needs of the service in other areas of Buckinghamshire.

CYP Therapies have a strong commitment to CPD and regular clinical supervision. Access to specialist training is available via internal and external courses, as well as mentoring, clinical supervision, attendance at CEN meetings etc.

Access to a car or ability to travel between county-wide locations is essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a member of a team of experienced and newly qualified therapists working across the will have day-to-day responsibility for a specific caseload of school-aged children. You will also support clinical projects and developments of practice within this part of the SLT service. You will support supervision of newly and recently graduated SLTs and unregistered staff and volunteers carrying out SLT related activities.

Multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention is integral to this post. You will work alongside other professionals within the CYP Team covering a varied caseload including children with physical difficulties and acquired brain injury. The post requires close collaboration with parents, as well as a variety of health and education professionals, in delivering a range of evidence-based packages.

You will support the management of paediatric dysphagia. Experience of paediatric dysphagia is desirable, but we welcome candidates without prior experience, but with an interest in developing their skills, to apply for this role as training needs will be supported.

Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent Health Professions Council License to Practice

Desirable

EXPERIENCE

Recent experience in working with school-aged children including complex needs

Experience of carrying out assessments and therapy within multi-disciplinary context Working knowledge of the mainstream and/ or special education system 5-25 Experience of implementing AAC Experience of delivering training to parents and other professionals including use of video coaching Evidence of knowledge and experience within paediatric dysphagia
