We are looking for highly motivated childrens nurses to join our dynamic and driven team at the Royal national orthopaedic hospital. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, innovative and passionate and ready for a new challenge. We are a specialist hospital in orthopaedics, so if you are looking at gaining skills within this speciality then this is the job for you. We care for children from 0-18 years with different orthopaedic conditions. Our inpatient ward is a 27 bedded paediatric ward. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in a specialist, fast-paced and learning rich environment. No previous orthopaedic experience is required as we offer in-house training and support. We are looking for childrens nurses who are ready to develop into the specialist field of orthopaedics. Main duties of the job

To practice within the scope of the NMC guidelines and unit policies and procedures. To ensure that all documentation are accurate and legal. Act as a professional role model. Assist in promoting a friendly working environment. To comply with the mandatory educational and training requirements Maintain accurate records, observing confidentiality at all times verbal and written. Acts at all times to safeguard Children and young peoples welfare through timely escalation of concerns and following trusts safeguarding referral processes and procedures. Acts at all times in accordance with the NMC and RNOH policies, protocols and guides of good practice, within own scope of professional practice. Assumes accountability for direct patient care and care of significant others. Be flexible with working hours to facilitate the smooth running of the unit.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities: Provides direct patient care. Maintains and develops high standards of care for all patients within the unit. Ensures nursing care is delivered in a holistic manner using an individualised and family centred approach. Participates and facilitates in the promotion of patient education and health promote an open and friendly working environment. Working as an advocate for the patients and their families. To undertake patient assessment and problem identification including goal setting. To plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of patient care from admission to discharge, working in partnership with the multidisciplinary team. Ensure the care needs of both the patient and carers attending the department are met. To be responsible for the safe administration of medication as laid down nationally and within the royal National orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. Maintain accurate records, observing confidentiality at all times verbal and written. Considers the patients right to confidentiality of all information, bearing in mind child protection issues. Report any potential complaints or untoward incidents to the NIC and Ward Manager. To plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of patient care from admission to discharge. You will be responsible for the assessing the needs of children and young people and their families, planning, implementing and evaluating their care. Educational Responsibilities: Maintains own professional development through further study. Promotes change and collaborates in the development of innovative practices. To comply with mandatory training and yearly appraisals. To maintain knowledge of current trends in healthcare and in the profession. To assist with nursing research as required. To maintain personal professional status by ensuring that the requirements laid down by the NMC periodic registration to maintain professional development programmes and ensure skill and competencies are maintained.

Qualifications

Essential

NMC Paediatric Registered Nurse. Ability to develop a portfolio and provide evidence of ongoing professional development. Evidence of continuing professional development. Able to use and embed evidence based practice. Knowledge of current awareness of professional issues nationally and throughout the NHS. Practices within the scope of the NMC code of professional conduct. Current knowledge of ongoing professional development.
