DescriptionAs a Senior Project Engineer at Gordon Murray Advanced Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Special Vehicles Chief Engineer in the technical project delivery of unique vehicle programmes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, leveraging your engineering expertise to drive innovation and excellence in automotive design and development.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Project Support: Collaborate closely with the Special Vehicles Chief Engineer to define project objectives, milestones, and deliverables. Provide technical guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of the vehicle programme.Engineering Analysis: Conduct comprehensive engineering analysis, including feasibility studies, design reviews, and risk assessments. Utilise advanced analytical tools and methodologies to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.Design and Development: Lead the design and development activities, overseeing the creation of innovative solutions that meet performance, quality, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate subsystems and components seamlessly.Prototype Testing and Validation: Plan and execute prototype testing and validation activities to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with performance targets. Analyse test data and collaborate with the engineering team to implement design modifications as necessary.Project Management: Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of project milestones. Monitor progress against key performance indicators and proactively address any issues or challenges that may arise.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including design, manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance teams. Facilitate cross-functional communication and collaboration to drive alignment and achieve project objectives.Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the engineering function. Implement best practices and lessons learned to enhance the overall effectiveness of project delivery. 
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in automotive engineering, with a focus on vehicle design and development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in engineering analysis tools and software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
  • Innovative mindset with a passion for pushing the boundaries of automotive technology.
  • Previous experience working on unique vehicle programmes or special projects is highly desirable.
