Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering leadership for the software integration and validation activity for current and future vehicle programs
  • Responsible for the software & controls integration, testing, and validation of all systems in the vehicle electrical architecture for our current and next generation vehicles.
  • Define test asset requirements and utilisation to fulfil the needs of the electrical test activities.
  • Leadership the software content management and release activities. Focus on meeting requirements, timing, and software content maturity targets to ensure an excellent customer experience. 
  • In conjunction with the Chief engineer, support the resourcing of the Integration and validation team to the levels agreed with the senior management team.
  • Career development planning for permanent members of staff, and peak-trough workload management for outsourced resources.
  • Maintain software status reporting to the project leads and wider business and drive progress through to homologation and engineering sign off.
  • Maintain test and validation records from both supplier and in house activities for all electrical system components to achieve engineering sign off.
  • Establish and nurture sustainable and productive relationships with other departments within the group, the supplier base and with our technical partners.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Proven track record of leadership and Software Integration and Validation at Principal Engineer level (or Senior Engineer plus significant experience) in the automotive industry.
  • Wide-ranging in-depth expert understanding of software integration, software architectures, electronics architectures, systems and validation, preferably in the automotive domain.
  • In depth understanding of software validation methodologies, homologation and engineering sign off
  • Articulate, self-motivated, inspiring individual who can work well under pressure. Demonstrates resilience and fosters good working relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Significant experience of process driven development 
  • Working knowledge of Functional Safety ISO26262, FMEA and DVP processes.
  • Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (quality planning, PPAP etc).
  • Electronics, Control Systems, Software, Automotive or similar honours engineering degree with an overall grade 2:1 or higher. 
  • Full driving licence is essential.
