Main duties of the job

The Yorkshire Centre for Eating Disorders is seeking to recruit a enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 Allied Health Professional Therapy Assistant to join Ward 6 inpatient service, which is part of the CONNECT service.

We have an exciting opportunity for an AHP therapy assistant to join the award winning CONNECT eating disorder service. This is an exciting new role where you will be supporting individuals living with an eating disorder on their journey towards recovery. If you are a highly motivated person with good organisational skills, an ability to use your own initiative and a genuine belief in people's ability to recover from a severe mental health illness then we would love to hear from you.

About us

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. Job description

Job responsibilities

This role will be invaluable by providing practical and social support to individuals as part of their recovery. You will be working closely alongside the ward Dietitian and Occupational Therapist to support care plans which are tailored to individual needs. Support is provided through both individual sessions and focussed co-facilitation of groups following assessment and guidance from the ward Dietitian and OT.

Examples of support include: Co-facilitation of groups such as creative, social eating, breakfast, lunch and caf groups Supporting patients with Dietetic goals, for example: carrying out behavioural experiments with patient Support to re-engage patients with meaningful activities Meal planning and preparation Support with reviewing OT and Dietetic goals Mealtime support, planning and preparation Increasing cooking skills Supermarket shopping and eating out Support implementing coping strategies Supporting patients to access volunteer, work and educational opportunities

Other Duties Include:

Patient meal support Patient psychological support Co-facilitation of patient groups Liaison with friends & family members Daily ward admin Patient documentation

A period of induction, training and support will be offered. We are keen to hear from candidates who have a genuine interest and empathy in working with individuals with eating disorders and associated complex needs.

The service is committed to individuals own personal CPD and you will be supported through the Trusts supervision and appraisal systems.

Specific training will be provided where necessary.
