We have an exciting opportunity for a Psychiatrist to join our integrated Mental Health team at HMP Lewes, a category B remand prison based in Lewes, East Sussex. The prison houses around 692 patients aged between 18-65, including an inpatient unit. As part of this role you will complete ward rounds on the inpatient unit and well as delivering clinical sessions. You will be an integral part of the integrated mental health team actively participating in the strategic direction of the mental health service.

Hours

Hours for this role are 8am-4pm 3 days per week between Monday and Friday

Salary

This position is part time role working 22.5 hour per week, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £180,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience. This role also come with the potential to take on full time hours working across both HMP Lewes and Gatwick IRC

What you'll be doing:

As a Psychiatrist your responsibilities will vary. You will provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications required

Registered professional with current registration (GMC) Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983 Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD Excellent communication skills with patients to understand their needs Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work.
