We have some exciting training opportunities in the SunderlandMental Health Support Team (MHST) and are seeking to recruit enthusiasticmotivated individuals to be part of our growing team.

To be considered for the training - you will be educatedto degree level and have recent experience of working with children and youngpeople.

The MHST is a relatively new service and works acrossdesignated schools in Sunderland supporting children and young people withlow to moderate mental health needs between the ages of 5 to 18 years. We providelow-intensity interventions and offer also group work. We also work withparents and carers as part of this in addition we offer training and adviceand support to our school teams and other professionals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder(s) will be part of the mental health support team, which incorporates the child and adolescent mental health service. They will work with children and young people who have a range of common mental health problems predominately in the school environment with high volume low intensity interventions in a training capacity. They will use traditional and innovative treatment methods. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. To meet targets that are set within the service To undertake training on the child and young persons educational mental health practitioner graduate diploma.

Skills and Competencies

Qualifications

Degree in related subject. Willingness to undertake training on the Post Graduate Diploma Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing studies in the Education Environment

Desirable

Professional qualification / training in teaching, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy. Psychology or other health related honours degree.

Knowledge

Essential

Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
