Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant with Marie Curie team in Whitby/North Yorkshire Moors, you'll be supporting patients and families in their time of greatest need. We provide free specialist palliative care and support to patients with life limiting illness whilst offering vital emotional support for their families.

We are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to join our community-based team in Whitby North Yorkshire Moors

Hours: Part time 18 hours per week (2 nights)

Salary: AFC BAND 2 £23,615 pro rata, per annum + enhancements

As a Healthcare Assistant with Marie Curie team in Whitby/North Yorkshire Moors, you'll be supporting patients and families in their time of greatest need. We provide free specialist palliative care and support to patients with life limiting illness whilst offering vital emotional support for their families.

With experience of End of Life care, you're ready and able to make a real difference. Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families - usually in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan. You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.

Be a UK licensed driver with access to a car and business insurance is essential Relevant community experience S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is required Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support Recent experience of providing care and caring for people with life limiting illness or palliative care needs
