The Role ofSet Piece Coach

The successfulcandidate will be responsible for the design implementation andreview of our offensive set piece strategy including corners kicksfree kicks and throw ins from all areas of thepitch.

MainAccountabilities

  • Takeownership for maintaining and improving the Brentford FC Set PiecePlay Book.
  • Be responsible for embedding the setpiece principles based on the Play Book into the first team squadvia on the grass coaching team and group analysis sessions andonetoone analysis and coaching with individualplayers.
  • Analyse upcoming first team opponentsand design strategies to maximise our set piece output againstthose opponents aligned to our set pieceprinciples.
  • Working with the head coach designthe training week to ensure that sufficient coaching time goes intoworking with the players on the grass to finalise the set piecestrategy for the next opponent.
  • Ensure that allset piece coaching is high energy engaging detailed and clear forthe players.
  • Take a lead role on match days toprovide clear information to the players before and during the gameand analyse our opponents defensive set piece setup to ensurerealtime adjustments are made to our strategy in order to maximiseour opportunities and make use of our keystrengths.
  • Review our set piece performanceafter every game and feedback to staff and players about ourstrengths and weaknesses.
  • Advise therecruitment team about requirements for new players aligned to theset piece strategy and spend time watching and reporting onpotential future signings.
  • Keep abreast ofother teams set piece strategies and use this to take inspirationfor developing and improving the Set Piece PlayBook.
  • Work with our analysts and datadepartment to continually review and improve the metrics by whichwe measure our set piece strengths andweaknesses.
  • As requested by the Director ofFootball provide analysis and key metrics regarding set pieces foruse in board meetings strategy meetings or any other relevantmeeting or report.
  • Adopt a positive andprogressive attitude to set pieces around the training ground andtake a lead role to ensure that all players and staff understandthe importance of set pieces for theClub.
  • Ensure any contact and interaction withplayers complies with the Clubs Safeguarding Policy and that anyconcerns are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriatechannels.

  • Providesupport and feedback to the Head Coach and other first teamcoaching department members to ensure detailed and highqualitycoaching is given to the players.
  • To ensurecompliance with all safeguarding and player welfare processes.
  • To ensure compliance with the Clubs Staff Codeof Conduct.
  • To promote equity diversity andinclusion at the Club in line with our EDIstrategy
  • Adopt a positive and cando attitude atall times and bring energy and confidence to the training groundand stadium environments.
  • Ensure thatsufficient time and attention is given to all mandatory trainingprovided by the Club the Premier League or any other key partner.
  • Dedicate time to personal development andimprovement both inside and outside of the Brentfordenvironment.
