Job summary

To support the professional and psychological care of clients within the service; providing psychological assessment and manualised psychological interventions.

To assist in the implementation of audit and research projects, such as outcome measure research, across the Service. To assist in the administration and interpretation of research related measures, collation and recording of statistics and production of relevant reports.

All work and actions take place under the management and supervision of practitioner psychology staff according to an agreed plan and associated goals within parameters set out by departmental policies and procedures.

Formal supervision with a named member of practitioner psychology staff to take place on a weekly basis, with regular opportunities for informal contact for guidance and advice.

Main duties of the job

As part of the team you will take a role in the delivery of high quality service provision that promotes and improves the mental health and well-being of children and young people, their families and carers. Working within a systemic and holistic framework you will undertake needs led, evidence based, highly skilled assessments and therapeutic interventions to children and young people, their families and carers, who present to the service. These assessments will also include young people needing support due to deliberate self-harm.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, caring person. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivating, have the ability to multi-task and will display excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to establish good working relationships essential to the success of the service.

The CYP services within LCFT are undergoing a transformation programme to implement the THRIVE model as a response to the Five Year Forward View. To meet this forward thinking view we are specifically looking for practitioners with a modern mind-set and an enthusiasm for the new model.

A lower second class (2ii) honours degree or higher in psychology. Entitlement to Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

Ability to undertake psychologically informed research projects. Knowledge of psychological methods and theories, especially child development and an ability to apply this knowledge within a clinical context. An understanding of the needs and difficulties of children/ young people with psychological/mental health difficulties or other disabilities. High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
