Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Clinical Sister. The successful candidate will be forward thinking, dynamic, enthusiastic and hold excellent communication skills. The successful applicant will have good underpinning knowledge and be able to problem solve and act under pressure, therefore resilience will be a key quality we will be looking for.

As the Clinical Sister you will work alongside the medical, nursing and multidisciplinary teams , facilitating nursing staff with their development of clinical skills and other nursing educations. As part of the senior nursing team you will have excellent communication skills with the outstanding ability to critically think , decision make and ensure the smooth running of the ward on a daily basis supporting the deputy and ward manager in their absence.

The post will sit within the brand new IAAU/SDEC located at Scunthorpe General Hospital within the Emergency and Acute Care Group. Successful applicants will be expected to work rotationally within the two areas and an expectation to work both days, nights, weekends and bank holidays, taking charge and facilitating patient flow whilst, maintaining a focus on the education and training of staff members.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, organised and dynamic individual, interested in developing their leadership, nurse education and clinical supervision skills.

An ability to ensure clinical expertise, coordinate safe, effective and high quality care. The individual will be fully supported within the role and a full orientation and competency package offered, and will be developed to the successful candidates needs .

The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the ward manager, providing clinical leadership, support and supervision. Ensuring standards of care, patient safety and safe practice are maintained.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop knowledge and skills in clinical governance. It is expected they will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, acting within expected professional standards at all times.

As a Clinical Sister you will act a shift lead day and night within IAAU, therefore your ability to effectively lead a team will be essential, you will be able to delegate effectively and ensure flow between departments. You will also be expected to help out on SDEC to ensure that flow is enabled and timely transfers of patients through departments. As well as having a focus on embedding high quality care, through ensuring targets of mandatory trainings are met and assisting the junior team to upskill.
