Job summary

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic IT and IG lead for our Practice. The post-holder will support us in developing the use of IT and our clinical system (SystmOne) to enable it to meet national and local targets, maximise income and improve patient care. You will need to be self-motivated, flexible and with a passion for quality improvement, using technology to achieve this.

You will lead on ensuring the Practice meets all Information Governance and Data Quality standards relevant to primary care.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the Business Manager and lead GP Partner in IT to support the Practice growth strategy.

About us

The Saltaire & Windhill Medical Partnership was established in 2019 as a result of a merger of two GP Practices in Shipley, West Yorkshire. The merged Practice has four sites, over 90 clinical and administrative staff and provides dedicated healthcare to over 24,500 patients.

The position will be based at our Windhill site at 2 Thackley Old Road, Shipley, BD18 1QB but travel may be necessary to visit our other sites.

Job responsibilities

InformationSystem Lead

Lead on innovation and the bestuse of IT and the SystmOne clinical system to benefit the Practice. Identifyingnew technology, products, suppliers and services that through a cost/benefitanalysis could improve the cost effectiveness and efficiency of our existing andnew services.

Develop and maintain an expertknowledge of the SystmOne clinical system products and other software suppliers(Ardens, PATCHs, e-consult, TeamNet) which are relevant to thedevelopment of the Practice, making recommendations as appropriate.

Build searches and extract datafor service improvement, internal and external reporting and qualityimprovement, vaccination programmes.

Create and provide ongoingmanagement of templates, protocols and SystmOne alerts for the Practice.

To develop, maintain and updatethe Practice website.

Provide upskilling training to thePractice staff on the use of information systems.

Lead on analysis of datasets frominformation systems and data provided from internal and external sources tohelp improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Practice

To build a working relationshipwith the NHS IT system provider (currently The Health Informatics Service THIS) to maximise the benefit of the service for the Practice.

To develop robust IT businesscontinuity plans, working with the NHS IT system provider to minimisedisruption to the Practice should an NHS IT failure occur. To put in place operationalplans to ensure the Practice maintains an operational service to our patients despitethe IT failure, using safe, secure and appropriate IT by-pass procedures.

To be responsible for ensuringthat all IT related standard operating procedures are documented, reviewedappropriately, communicated, and are all being adhered to. Put in placeimprovement plans to address any non-compliance.

Support the installation andconfiguration of hardware and software within the Practice.

Maximising internal systems toensure robust delivery of services Wi-Fi, telephone system, mobile devices.

To be the main contact forcoordinating all IT issues within the Practice.

InformationGovernance/Data Quality

To lead on ensuring best practicein Information Governance.

To work closely with the ICB, DataProtection Officer. (DPO)/InformationGovernance (IG) Lead, to ensure that all requirements in line with technical,cyber and physical security standards are delivered and maintained to the higheststandards whilst complying with best practice.

Undertaking the range of tasksrequired or advised under GDPR / by the ICO / National Data Security andProtection Toolkit such as data mapping, reporting data breaches, compilingretention schedules, compliance audits etc.

Managing and overseeing agreementswith third party organisations to ensure our data is protected appropriately,ongoing suitability of third-party suppliers and compliance.

Ensuring data sharing agreementsare in place with third parties.

Identifying training needs andregular staff updates.

Maintenance of an organisationtraining matrix.

To ensure compliance with the DataProtection Security Toolkit around Data requirements and develop actions plansto address any non-compliance.

To have knowledge and experience of maintaining records to CQC standards.
