Job summary

Practitioner Psychologist / Psychological therapist 8b - North East and North West Adult Community Mental Health Teams (1wte substantive)

As part of this role, you'll provide line management, clinical and professional supervision to 8a psychologists, band 7 psychological therapists, psychology assistants and CAPS. You'll provide generic and specialist placements for trainee clinical psychologists. You'll provide clinical leadership to the Psychology team and to the two CMHTs we work with and help us continue our work to embed formulation-led care across our service. You'll be responsible for further developing and consolidating service provision and pathways within our service. In terms of clinical cases, you'll feel confident taking on our most complex cases for assessment, formulation, consultation and treatment. You'll be responsible for providing data around our service's activity levels, waiting times and outcomes.

The North Psychology Team is based at the Peddars Centre, Hellesdon Hospital, Norwich. Therapists are based within friendly and supportive multidisciplinary teams, and offer specialist interventions including CBT, MBT, CAT, ACT, DBT, as well as EMDR. Options for group work include the Emotional Wellbeing group, ACT group and psychoeducational workshops. Psychology Services within the Trust have strong links with partners including UEA, and NSFT's Recovery College, in which they play an active role.

Main duties of the job

As the practitioner psychologist / psychological therapist, you will be a key player in developing psychologically informed ways of working and practice in the multi-disciplinary team.

to provide psychological assessment, formulation and a range of brief evidence based psychological interventions when appropriate targeting the needs of this population. to develop and carry out appropriate psychological or psychologically informed training for staff involved in this project. to be responsible for measuring outcomes of psychological or psychologically informed interventions. to be a key player in supporting a co-produced vision of service development, enabling and empowering service users to have equal voice in shaping up psychological services.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its equivalent, including eligibility for chartered status with the BPS Further post-qualification, post-graduate training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice

Experience

Essential

Specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health problems, of varying severity and complexity. Extensive experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist and evidence of specialist knowledge gained through practice and ongoing training

Desirable

Representing psychology within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts).

Skills

Essential

Use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
