Special Needs support worker

Protocol Education are working with a Special Needs school based in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire to appoint a Special needs Support worker & Teaching Assistant.
The School is a Primary age special school which caters for children experiencing Communication and Interaction difficulties within a moderate learning difficulty / mild learning disability range. It is expected that the vast majority of the pupils have a diagnosis of ASd alongside other difficulties such as Global Developmental Delay, anxiety, sensory processing, ADHd and dyspraxia for example and / or a severe speech, language and communication difficulty.
It offers these children a smaller group setting with plenty of space, together with a specialised curriculum and teaching methods to address their needs and make school a positive learning experience. Visitors to the school and parents often comment on how quiet and calm the school is and pupils show that they enjoy their learning and feel safe and cared for.
They provide the full National Curriculum and the pupils attain within the range expected for children within a moderate learning difficulty range.
Start: January 2025
Hours of work: 8:30am-3:30pm

The successful applicant will:
- Deal with situations calmly and sensitively
- Be creative and ‘think outside of the box’ in their approach to supporting pupils with additional needs
- Have strong abilities to develop strong and trusting relationships
- Be a team player and able to work closely with other staff members and third parties
- Care deeply about pupils academic, emotional, and personal development and have empathy for their individual circumstances
- Have a supportive and encouraging attitude, to inspire trust and to motivate students
- Be able to use their initiative in meeting the needs of the student, depending on their individual communication, and learning skills
- Have a proven track record of working with young people or vulnerable adults, either on a paid or voluntary basis
- Have basic IT skills/ understanding
