Job summary

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join the Ophthalmology Department in Head and Neck Clinical Service Unit (CSU). We are looking for a focused and highly motivated individual to join the Ophthalmic management team in the role of Patient Services Coordinator, with a key focus on supporting with the day to day operational management of the largest outpatient service and one of the busiest inpatient services in the Trust.

This post is pivotal in providing key operational and management support to ensure the delivery of a quality patient focused service. The post holder will join an established and supportive management team in the CSU. The successful candidate will be required to work with management and clinical teams to support the Ophthalmology department.

The post holder will be required to assist in management of the day to day operational aspects of the service, with a focus on achieving and monitoring access delivery performance in line with LTHT Trust policies, developing and maintaining professional relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders in order to support the day to day running of the department and staff management, while working closely with the Business Manager and the existing Patient Services Coordinator.

About us

The Eye Department is predominantly based at St James University Hospital, Leeds but we also offer services to patients at Seacroft Hospital and Wharfedale Hospital. We are the biggest outpatient department in the Trust.. There are 29 consultants in the wider Ophthalmology Department. The team also trains Ophthalmic specialist trainees from the region. We have recently moved into a new outpatient department which has provided us which much more space for patients and clinicians and includes our Laser Vision Department which provides refractive services to private patients as well as NHS.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The postholder will provide managerial support to administrative and clerical staff on relevant sites within the Trust. They will be responsible for the day to day operational management of patient administration and access services for the Clinical Service Unit (CSU). The postholder will ensure the provision of a highly effective patient administration service within the CSU. In addition they will manage a designated budget and ensure appropriate systems are in place to enable the CSU to achieve patient access targets. They will also provide support and advice on patient administration/access related issues to core members of the clinical management team.
