Job summary

Ryalls Park Medical Centre and Oaklands Surgery in Yeovil are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is for hours per week, to be worked over 5 days.

Pay rate is £ per hour, with an NHS or NEST pension offered.

You will have experience of working in primary care and be competent in healthcare duties. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and an ability to organise their own time and workload.

Main duties of the job

Working under the directsupervision of the Lead / Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance withspecific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant willassist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribedprogrammes of patient care.

Job responsibilities

Main duties and responsibilities include:

Newpatient health checks - BMI, Urinalysis ECGrecording INRmonitoring using Coagucheck and INR Star Toundertake Doppler testing BloodPressure Monitoring following practice hypertension guidelines, issue HBPM inaccordance with practice policy Phlebotomy including perform annual blood tests, BP, BMI, ACR as requested for patientswith chronic diseases Urinalysis MSU, ACR in accordance with practice policy WoundCare suture removal in accordance with practice policy, following training WeightManagement Chaperoningduties Processingand management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses Administerinfluenza vaccines according to PSD, following training AdministerB12 injections according to PSD To undertake Spirometry for GP to interpret results. Surgicalequipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation Clearingand re-stocking consulting rooms Preparingand maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patientcare interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minoroperations, coils and implants Assistingin the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being Helpto raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted Assistingwith the collection and collation of data on needs related to health andwell-being Assistwith recall systems Lifestyleadvice, (diet, weight, exercise, smoking cessation, alcohol) making necessaryreferrals within PHCT and local support services Maintainhealth promotion information in waiting room designated for patient education Person Specification

Essential

English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent) NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care Care Certificate
