Job Overview

Symphony Healthcare Services Limited is seeking a dedicated and skilled Healthcare Assistant to become a vital part of our clinical team. This position offers a permanent contract with a commitment of hours per week, distributed across five days.

The compensation for this role is competitive, with an hourly rate of £, and includes participation in either the NHS or NEST pension scheme.

The ideal candidate will have a background in primary care and demonstrate proficiency in various healthcare responsibilities. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

The Healthcare Assistant will operate under the direct supervision of the Lead/Practice Nurse, adhering strictly to established practice protocols and guidelines. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Conducting health assessments for new patients, including BMI and urinalysis.
  • Performing ECG recordings and INR monitoring using Coagucheck and INR Star.
  • Carrying out Doppler testing and blood pressure monitoring in line with practice hypertension protocols.
  • Executing phlebotomy tasks, including annual blood tests and chronic disease monitoring.
  • Assisting with wound care, including suture removal, as per training received.
  • Managing laboratory samples as requested by clinical staff.
  • Administering vaccines and B12 injections following appropriate training.
  • Supporting the clinical team during minor procedures and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Providing lifestyle advice and health promotion information to patients.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.
  • Care Certificate.

  • Training specific to Healthcare Assistants.

Skills and Experience

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with EMIS web or similar healthcare systems.

Essential Experience

  • Previous role as a Healthcare Assistant or in a comparable position.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in a Primary Care or NHS environment.
